Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 17, 7:00 p.m., at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church. During this meeting we will be welcoming one of our own, Judy Lewis will speak. Judi will be presenting and educating fellow guild members and visitors about the art of making a Double Wedding Ring quilt.
The “Double Wedding Ring” pattern became popular in the late 1920s. The example pictured here is currently property of the Smithsonian Institute. It was made by the wife of a rural storekeeper near Raleigh, North Carolina. She used pieces cut from yard goods sold in the store, fabrics typical of the 1930s.
