For more than 30 years as a quilter and several years as a shop owner, Ohio-based Penny Haren has been developing and teaching techniques that make it quick, easy and fun for quilters, even beginners, to create heirloom quality quilts with stunning results. Penny will present a trunk show of 40-50 quilts that demonstrate the use of rulers during the Guild meeting.

As a member of the Creative Grids® team, she has developed several rulers and works with nationally known designers as they “give birth” to their creations. Adding features that make it possible for quilters to achieve perfect piecing with ease is her favorite part of the job!

Penny has also written several books with Landauer Publishing/Fox Chapel based on her technique, Pieced Appliqué™ which eliminates Y-seams; inset points and curves from even the most complicated blocks. Quilts and blocks that you might never have considered are now not only possible. but a breeze.

Creative Grids® tools inspired her to write Log Cabin Quilts – a book based entirely on the six-inch trim tool and Dresden Plate Quilts based on the 45 Degree Kaleidoscope and Dresden Plate Triangle. She has also written several patterns for Cut Loose Press that feature other favorite notions. Penny consults with and writes the newsletter for Checker Distributors, the most diverse distributor of books, patterns, notions and fabrics in the quilting industry.

Penny is also Project Manager for Cut Loose Press – a company with over 400 patterns to support notions such as Creative Grids®.  She teaches and lectures all over the country and at most national shows.

Earlier in the day, Penny will facilitate two workshops for Guild Members.
There will be a sign up for the workshops at the September meeting.
